WINTER TREE IDENTIFICATION DAY
Join me for a day exploring the woodland, learning about the properties and uses of different tree species, and how to identify them, particularly during Winter.
Learn key features up close for 30 species of deciduous and coniferous tree species commonly found in Britain.
WINTER TREE ID DAY OVERVIEW
Learn the key features you can use to identify trees when not in leaf, such as bark patterns in both juvenile and mature forms, growth habit, crown shape, bud shape, spacing and arrangement, catkins, fungal growth and more.
This knowledge will save you time and effort by enabling you to quickly identify the best resources as well as keeping you safe from accidentally using potentially toxic timbers for fire or cooking.
Being able to identify dead wood from the bark for example is far more useful in selecting firewood than recognising species from their foliage.
